Wildlife's 2nd Chance Rescue often gets wildlife referrals from other rescues ~ And in turn ~ Our rescue often makes referrals concerning their specialty animal intake and cause!
Here is an idea of how our local network assist each other intake of animals
Birds and Beaks takes in household and exotic birds such as those of the Parrot family, cockatoos and the like ~ too many to mention here - but you get the point. However, Birds and Beaks Rescue refers birds of the wild to our Wildlife 2nd Chance Rescue ~ Such as doves, pigeons, and songbirds ~ and even farm livestock from time to time like chicken's ducks and geese ~ because we also have farm animals on our property!
Birds and Beaks has also been very charitable to our rescue by donating some of their older bird cages to use for smaller wildlife such as birds and squirls, baby opossums and the like!
Wildlife's 2nd Chance is occasionally able to assist Birds and Beaks rescue when they are overrun with high numbers of surrendered birds such as parakeets and finches ~ or in some cases when law enforcement utilizes this rescue in their operations, to handle seized birds ~ often malnutrition animals in need of vet care from hoarder's and unethical breeders!
That being said ~ helping each other out as a neighboring rescue is one thing ~ as for the public community ~ Wildlife's 2nd Chance IS NOT a bird rescue!
Birds And Beaks is the rescue to contact, and their website can be accessed in the navigation tabs below!
Pawsibilities refers wildlife to our rescue, and we refer the domestics (cats and dogs) to their rescue!
Pawsibilities has been very charitable towards many rescues in the area including Wildlife's 2nd Chance with their overflow of supplies, and we have helped their rescue by occasionally taking into our care a good number of domesticated rabbits and an on occasion a couple chinchillas and hamsters when they are overrun with high numbers of surrendered animals or in some cases law enforcement seized often malnutrition animals in need of vet care from hoarder's and unethical breeders!
That being said ~ helping each other out as a neighboring rescue is one thing ~ as for the public community ~ Wildlife's 2nd Chance IS NOT a domestic rescue!
Pawsibilities is the rescue to contact, and their website can be accessed in the navigation tabs below!
Animal Magic is a facility is an exotic animal traveling zoo of a type for educational purposes between Ann Arbor and Detroit, also licensed with the DNR to take in wildlife in need of rescue or rehabilitation ~ We work with this rescue because of their location in Michigan and vice versa ~ but also ~ so many calls come in for rescue for exotic animals like abandoned alligators or snakes of the exotic species! Sometimes law enforcement has to call in for a rescue team because an arrest was done ~ landing the owner of some interesting animals in custody! To which the officers are now trying to figure out who to call in as a rescue. Many of these animals are of what is considered exotic's, often capable of being viscously dangerous, or venomous ~ animals in the home that need to be handled by a professional! Mark Rosenthal from Animal Magic is defiantly one person we like to have on our call list!
Wildlife's 2nd Chance has acquired some of our exotic animals such as the pair of Sulcata tortoises from Animal Magic!
Mark rescued these exotic animals, but his pens were already full, and the males were very territorial for the female attention ~ and thus had to be separated! How cool for us as animal enthusiast ~ We were able to help their rescue and well ~ we ended up with some pretty awesome animals on our location that will end up being willed to our great grandchildren's kids ~ LOL
